If you are just wanting a long lens, be prepared for pictures not so sharp for fast action. But I bought the 80-200 when I got my Rebel G and it was fine for a while. Then I didn't consider another tele until 70-200 f4, which is around $700 US, but is a favorite lens of a lot of folks here. Suzie - Still Speaking Canonese!

Yeah, 70-200L f/4 and perhaps the 1.4TC if you want more reach.
