ya know.. we could turn any thread into a Rockwell bash fest if we wanted... I personally LOVE how he tells everybody to shoot everything in Program mode... that's my favorite.. !!

Woah woah woah! P-Mode?!?!?! I haven't quite got that far yet. Still using green rectangle, sometimes "Big Head Mode" I wanna use the "Moutain and Cloud" mode but there aren't any mountains in Manitoba. To bad Canon didn't put a "Prairie and Cloud" mode on their camera.

Cool thing with 39 Mpixels, I took a photo of the fans at Wembley Stadium last week from the opposite sideline, and at the end of the game I was selling portraits at the Exit booths.

(Sheez, in all seriousness -if I may for a moment- I can think of only a handful of people in this world who may use such a camera. And even they are making due with their 1Ds without any problems... Ahh, there is people for everything in this world).

I don't work in print media, but I would think camera's like this would be used for advertising, fashion photography and the like. I mean the 35mm format is good enough for most stuff, but people still shot large format like 2 1/4" square. The price tag is definitely a lot high for most people to justify. I think it's supposed to retail at 35-40K

I want to see what a 39 MP photo looks like. Does anyone have an sample photo from this camera found on google or something?

BTW, who uses this? Obviously studios and stuff, but I have yet to see a photo from one, and usually in movies and sports and stuff you just see a lot of white glass and Canon and Nikon cameras.

Canon EOS 30D, Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 105 Macro, 135L, 430ex, Lowepro Mini Trekker AW, Manfrotto 3001pro w/486rc2 and 804rc2 head, Manfrotto 681 w/ 3232 head.

Yeah I'd love to see a fullres shot from this camera. Just to get an idea of what it can do.

Like I said print media would probably use it. I know that we have contracted to get some really highres shots for our company. I think we had some 20ish megapixel shots done for us about 3 or 4 years ago. Also a $30,000ish camera. We did large blowups for our tradeshow booth. Cameras like these usually don't lend themselves well to sport photography and that. Even before the digital revolution you didn't see Sports photographers running around with large format cameras. They still shot 35mm SLRs.

So are you saying those humungous posters on buildings (like 20-30 feet by whatever) and the billboard shots of models are taken with cameras like this?

I'm just curious, because it seems like professionals in studios are using 1DS or D2X or 5D at the most, I have yet to even hear of somebody using one of these cameras.

Yup that's what I'm saying. The photographer we hired for our tradeshow booth does a lot of highend shooting in Winnipeg. His shots are on billboards and the like in the city. He doesn't use a 35mm format dSLR for that kind of work. Mind you these days the 1D series are getting up to the megapixel count of the camera he was using.

As far as I know Landscape photographers are really excited about this camera. Keep in mind some of those photographers are still using 8x10 format cameras (that's 8x10 inch plates) for their needs. The megapixel count still has to go up to touch the image quality of those shots.

Ah, I could see the use of this in landscape, i.e. when you do a city shot. With more pixels your just getting more detail. Still, I really want to see a sample shot from this camera of a city or something that shows off the 39 megapixels.

BTW, how much does glass for this sort of camera cost? :D.

I wonder what type of kit lens these cameras come with, if they sell them with a kit lens or something.

You'de probably just invest in a nice wide angle prime and use that, anything you'd need (i.e. a shot of a tiger at 100 feet away) could be cropped away.
