I think I am going to get one of these for my wife to go with her 24-105. She likes those light lenses, she tells me they are easy for a woman to carry.

yeah i remember when "your wife" wanted to become a prime shooter because the 24-70L was too heavy for "her" to carry ;) .

No actually it is the 24-105 that she likes the most. Now I have 2 24-70's to shoot all I want. I think one will go to finance the 70-200.

Dang, that looks sharp... If I didn't need f/2.8 for most of the stuff I do I'd definitely be considering it :)

mike - here you go 100% crop, untouched.

Thanks Ed,

it looks pretty sharp. I looked at the review at dpreview where the op compared the 200 2.8 with f4 IS and it doesn't look right too me. But thanks for the picture.

That's sharp.

I feel I must never touch a IS lens, as I will begin shooting at shutter speeds greater then fractions of a second. I never realiesd how well I could handhold a lens till I did 1/6 sec with my 70-200 F/4 at 200mm.. I scare myself :(.

Such a pity about the price. I'd get one tomorrow but to change from my non-IS would cost me the equivalent of almost $1000. Utter madness.

I agree crumble - looks a great lens but the price (UK especially) is a bit hard to swallow.

Incredible.. absolutely incredible. It's just that I don't know how often I'd miss a f/2.8 aperture.
