These are a few of my shots from the third Scottish POTN meet, and after seeing the quality of the other shots, I debated whether to bother uploading my attempts. Anyway, I decided to, and feedback on improvements will be gratefully accepted.

As usual, the save for web option on Photoshop has lost some of the saturation, so I would also be interested to hear how others compress and upload to maintain the quality of their photos.

Thanks for your contribution John. All have their merit but perhaps the old bridge just wins over River Garry.

I change image to 8bit .. change colour space to sRGB .. change size to 800 & frame and then "Save as" jpg .. I then resharpen as is required.
As you noticed I over sharpened one today.
I don't like using PS save to web.
All the best.
Paul

I love the bridge. You chose the right aperture, making everything sharp. It's very nice.

Nice shots Rudgej.

Personally I upload my pics to photobucket, then link to them, stops trying to get the file size way down for directly posting on here.

Very good series. I'm certainly glad that you "bothered" to post them John. ;) :D

Come on, John, no false modesty, please. These are very good, as we've come to expect from you.

I was deliberately sticking around f/13 for depth of field, and as I used a tripod, this didn't really raise concerns about the resulting shutter speed.

Thank you Toney. I'm on the whole happy with the mechanics of taking the photo, but where I could do with learning more is perhaps in composition, but definitely in how to use Photoshop the best to produce both natural but impressive looking photos

Thanks David. I'm using my own website to host them, so I'm not really constrained sizewise either, but do tend to keep each one around the 100kb mark simply out of consideration for people opening my threads. ;)

Thanks Robert and Stan and it is very ego-boosting to have such complementary feedback. Seriously though, after seeing shots from the other Scottish POTN bunch, I wasn't too sure about these. Did they look overprocessed for instance? I also really liked the low angle and composition that some of the others achieved with UWA 10mm shots, and I thought that these made mine look mundane and nothing special by comparison.

John, I find you do an excellent job with motion blur like wit you water shots but this last shot is my most favorite. With that old bridge in the upper BG and the spray of water in the MG, this is a fabulous shot, I love it.

Thanks Dimitri. Another vote for #2 which is interesting as it was one that I really wasn't sure about. Are you able to make the fourth fabled Scottish POTN meet? It looks like being in the Trossachs.

Thanks Frank. My wife wasn't sure about this one because of the rock outcrop hiding some of the falls. Unfortunately I had left my spare stick of dynamite in my other trousers, so couldn't do anything about that. ;)
