A non run of the mill baby shot, with lots of punch to it. I like this. Well contrasted, and I like how the gravel is darker around the bottom edge of the frame while the baby stays quite evenly lit.

Quite new to all this.
Gear: Point and Shoot Panasonic DMC-LZ5. Tiny little No Name Tripod. Photoshop CS2.
Image Editing is just fine.

This image features an interesting expression of a child enjoying himself.

I find the pose to have one major problem ... he is all the way on the right and looking to the right ... out of the frame. If the maker of this image had walked to the left, or had someone else draw the child's attention to the other side, it would have been considerably better.

Craig, that's my biggest problem with the shot as well. I picked this one out of a series, all of which have her located at the far right of the frame. It was the best one in every respect, except for the direction she's facing.

I try to be conscious of my subject in relation to the shot's composition... but often fail to get both right. I wish I were better at seeing the shot before I take it so that I could work out those little details, like getting her to look the other direciton.

Thanks for looking and commenting, Craig :)

Here is a quick version with the child in the 1st quadrant for composition and also to be looking into the presentation.

Ya, composition-wise, I think that may have worked better, though I'd kind of prefered her legs facing the same direction as her gaze.

For th gear-heads, I'll add, this was taken with the 85mm wide open... very useable, indeed!
