This thread is primarily for those who are interested in philology as well as those who have a contribution (of any sort) to make on the topic.

General discourse on food, drinking, dating, marriage, jewellery and computers while also welcome, do seem to already have several dedicated threads-communal centres of learning and teamwork building. Thus it is perhaps best that those professional development centres maintain their focus as well as the participants.

I probably do take some deviant pleasure in permutating member's ID's, although not nearly as much as the true masters of the art, such as MDJAK, CONDYK and OLLI. Why do we do it, to what effect ? What are the linguistic guidelines and rulles in skewing someone's ID ?. Is it always funny ? Can it be abused ?
Well, it is hoped that this workshop thread will address those as well as some newly raised issues.

My most favourite recent ones are:

(1) Conduck, Conduit, Kontiki, Connie.
(2) Dr.Jakov, MD Jakaka Dolt
(3) Olligarchy, Ollivia.
(4) Petkill, Petkins, Petteri, Petiens.

Now, we come to the veritable Mother Lode of ID permutated....our dear friend DocKlepper. A treasure of lexic chaos !

Then, there are more subtle if not obtuse ones such as:
* Maria
* Ronald Sr.Jr.
* Lord Malo ne (you gotta be real good to get that one !;) )
* Unstoppable F.Jojo

Elk Tap, these permutations (or ID enlargements?) might be (false) interpretations of the true existense of the members, and can be both offensive and funny at the same time (which might be in rare cases the reason for this linguistic acrobatic performance).

I welcome this popularist kinda study of 'philology'. Those who will post here know it involves love (Greek Φιλος or philos) of (a) word (Greek λογος or logos). Of course, all humour has at root an element of mild insult or oneupmanship. It is often a fine line between a gentle flirt and an outright insult. It is all a game and this name changing craic is a classic form.

The use of language for the purpose of parable and craic is an art form, like a modern day storyteller the forum poster can insult, entertain or inform in the same sentence; whether they are leaving a positive message for some or a slap for others depends on how they are listen to.

Does the listener play the game, or are they so locked into the game of their life that they cannot play by different rules? So, like any art, there will always be craic fans and there will always be those who are confused or outright hostile. After all, an ID is part of a persons identity online and so those with a desire to maintain that identity are always those most ripe for a ribbing :p Why else would anyone bother craic-in' with such people?

Some of my own favourite name-craics include:

LuckyLoony
NightScream
BilliousintheKnees
JagHardwire
PetKill
Al Dante
CorticalCat, et al
Perm&Gin
DocKlepto

Here is something to select (we can permutate the titles too):

condyk ("Teenager on glue): Taavetti (used), "Gruel gone teen" (free to use)
Petkal ("El Geratol Comedian"): Elk Pat (free), "Demonical alter ego" (free)
Claire (fruity coctail"): "Occult fairy kit" (free)
