I've produced a similar panorama in the past but it was only half as wide as this one. It's made up of 15 vertical shots, each of those a blend of 2 for highlights and shadows, so 30 in total.

I'm having it printed at 90 inches wide, and I can't wait to see what it looks like at that size.

Incidently, the Griffith Observatory, which can be seen centre bottom, has just reopened yesterday after a 5 year renovation. We're heading up to it this afternoon to check it out, and enjoy the panoramic views. here's the website for anyone interested: http://www.griffithobs.org/ (external link)

Whoa, that's cool. You should do every major city and compile a book.

Very interesting Pete, and the 90" print should look spectacular. Do you have somewhere to hang it, or are you just keen to appreciate it properly? ;)

thanks guys.

GeForceFX, there's a very similar colour panorama taken from the same place at a different time on my pbase gallery.

John, I've sold a copy of this image to a client, mainly because he wanted a massively wide panorama on his wall, and 90 inches was about the size he was after, so I'm having a second edition made for myself. I doubt I'll have anywhere to hang it though.

There are three main reasons i like this:
1. Looks like the aftermath of when N Korea will get mad and blow up LA
2. Mainly dead area then big city
3. Cloud over main part

There's a lot of noise in the image, if you could remove, I think it would work.

thanks everyone.

Michael, taken from the top of Mt Hollywood, up behind Griffith Observatory.

Okay Les, I know it's hard to please you, but first of all, the image is reduced down to about 15% of it's actual size, so even if there was noise (which there was virtually none) in it, you wouldn't be able to see it, and secondly, for artistic reasons I added a layer of genuine T-max 400 film grain to improve the texture of the printed version. If this looks like unacceptable noise to you on the reduced version, tough ****, I'm 100% happy with it.
