similar lenses, which one to use?

i have 3 similar lenses but i have no idea of which one is "better", so pleas help me,

i have a kit lense from my rebel xt, which is a EFS 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 but i have another lense that i bought some time ago for my ellan 7e which is a Vivitar series1 19-35mm 3.5-4.5 so, which one of this lenses would be better to use??? the kit lense or the vivitar?

I would say the Kit lens, just because its newer, a bit wider, and has better range.

The kit lens would be the lesser of two evils I would think. Try them out, stopped down to f/8, and see which has better results.

The kit lens will be loads better - as said, it's newer, wider, longer - and designed for the camera.
Put the vivitar on ebay and put the cash towards something really nice - there's a huge range to choose from but I think you'd get the most bang for buck with a medium tele zoom like the sigma 70-300 APO macro - that will give you a great focal range to play with.

thanks steve, i already have a 75-300mm 4-5.6 usm, i know is not the greatest lens but i like it, i think i'll start thinking on a nifty fifty, thats a lense i can aford and as i see it can give very good results.. thanks again

A 50 1.8 is a great little lens to have - build issues aside it is tiny and sharp and fun to use, it makes a great portrait lens on a crop camera.

The 75-300 is reasonable - I had one - but I saved for the 70-200 f/4 which is away better. I sold my 75-300 on ebay for a very good price, paid for about a quarter of the new lens. I have never missed the 200-300 range, but one day will be in the market for a 100-400.

kit lens should be better than an old vivitar.

hey steve, i think ill do that, i think ills sell that 75-300 and the ol vivitar an see, what can i buy whith taht money, thanks a lot for the comments , ill check that 70-200 !
