really old 85L?

do you all think it is worth purchasing a really old used 85L? im talkin like UF****?

If it's a really old EF mount then DEFINITELY! Glass doesn't really get updated that often, the EF85/1.2L came out in 1989, and I'm sure the copy back then was still as great as it is now.

If it's an FD, I think the optical adaptor required would negate the beautiful images it produces.

wow...i would assume that there would wear and tear of some sort. i adorama has a UF 85L and theyre saying that its in awesome condition. do i have to worry about internal parts wearin out due to age?

Parts wear out because of use, not age! If it's in great physical condition then you can assume it is little used and should be a safe buy.

Remember it is an L, and they are built to take a beating ( figuratively!) so the passage of 15 or so years is neither here nor there.

There's nothing wrong with older glass. If it's in great condition, then it's a good chance to pick up something great for a lower price. That's what I told myself when I got the 20-35 f/2.8L

Better get it before someone else snaps it up. Now that you've posted this info, that might just happen.
