I've owned it for only a few hours now but already love it! Such a versatile lens, and so far the image quality is quite impressive. (to hopefully stop the f/4 vs. f/2.8 "debate" before it begins, because of the type of photography I do I had NO need for the f/2.8 version...)

Like others have said, I know this isn't exaclty the required "duck" picture I should be posting here, but it's as close as I can get today! (as you can see, even my cat isn't in the mood for photography today, imagine that!) I know I always say this, but the actual image looks MUCH better than the small, compressed version I posted here.

This lens is a keeper! :D

Absolutely razor sharp. I am so floored by both of the 70-200 f/4's and their clarity.

The addition of IS simply makes a superb lens - well, even more superb!

Congratulations on being one of the first!

Congrats on the lens! I got the non IS version just a week ago and I love it. Seems like the the IS version could be a possible upgrade much later :)

Looks like a nice lens. I have the non-IS version and plan to upgrade to the f/2.8 IS version asap.

Sorry if this post is encouraging some to break out their credit cards, what can I say! Really though, as much as I love my old (non-IS) version of this lens I really do feel that this updated copy will offer so much more potential for my photography. I guess we'll see! (I'm still in your boat too, I'm trying to save for a 5D, one day......)

Haha, yea, this shot is probably why I DON'T do portraits?! It's less than a flattering pose for sure! I can assure you though the "look" here was a result of a funky position she was laying down in and her thick (VERY thick and fluffy) winter coat.

I keep telling myself that I'm saving for the 100-400, but between you and Ed, I'm getting awfully tempted. Nice shot (who needs ducks anyway). Congrats on your new toy.

Pfft ducks are over rated. And if you live where it snows, Ducks are not always around to snap but a good cat? Well that is always around begging for food. ;)

The 2.8's floor me too. I think Canon REALLY produced a winning line in the 70-200 series. Congrats on your purchase. You've posted the first F/4 IS sample photo I've seen!

wow what a great lens, I couldn't justify paying that much for that lens at first. But after seeing some pics wow. I just put my order in for the same lens but non IS so later down the road ill upgrade to the IS but 2.8. Great to see that you like the lens.
