Doesn't look like a problem.

To be sure I'd pry open that case and make sure that volume slider has at least 6 pins/leads (R/L/G input + R/L/G output). You might not even need to do that. Take a look at the jack(s), both input and output (can't tell if those are jacks or they are hard wired into that control: if they're jacks - you don't have to open the case) and make sure it's stereo: the tip is the left channel, the next ring is the right channel, and the long ring is the ground. Simply put: the mini-jack will have 3 sections. If this is the case it's just a simple swap.

If this is confusing let me know.

Edit: I'm doing this the hard way. Just look at the jacks into the computer and the amp (they will be the same at the volume controler end - smacks self in forehead). If they are 3 ring stereo you are good to go.

Perfect. Just wanted to make sure you weren't dealing with some kind of microcontroller.

Head-Fi's back up! ;) Sorry to temp you.

Good Luck!

Doc if the pot thing does not work out and you think a headphone amp may do what you want I could send you one I have. I made it so it is a DIY job. Runs from a 9 volt battery (a rechargable will work). If you think that would do you some good PM me (I will try to remember to look at that bit of the site) and I could send it to you.

Best stay away from Head-Fi that place could well be worse than this place. :)

DOC, I have quite a bit of money invested in headphone gear and stereo stuff. I'm not into it much anymore, but if we ever get together to shoot you can drop by and give my sennheisers a listen (they are amplified by a PPA headphone amp.)

Canon EOS 30D, Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 105 Macro, 135L, 430ex, Lowepro Mini Trekker AW, Manfrotto 3001pro w/486rc2 and 804rc2 head, Manfrotto 681 w/ 3232 head.

Thank you so much for the offer, but I don't know what it does really. I have no clue if I need it.

Agreed, most just argue about interconnects and power cables. ;)

Hahaha I know exactly what you mean. You know, I'd love to get a speaker system but to get speakers sounding anywhere close to my headphones I'd have to spend a lot more.... exponentially more. =)

Doc, if you're interested in hearing a different sort of setup you could take a listen to mine (tubes vs solid state, AKGs- analytical vs Senns-smooth)

Kev, speakers don't have to be expensive. I paid around $300 for my wharfedale diamond 9.1's and I love them, stack them with a vintage reciever or something and you have a rather cheap setup. I'm probably going to upgrade to a nad reciever soon as my friend wants his vintage marantz back, but overall this setup isn't that pricey. I have a pair of logitech z-5500's just laying in the basement getting no use.

I got a pair of Polk Audio RTi4s for my birthday from some friends. They're ok, way better than any computer speakers but still nothing compared to my cans. I also have an Audiosource AMP100 amplifier being fed by my DAC (same DAC that feeds my darkvoice). Not bad at all, but headphones have by far the best bang for buck in sound quality.

I'm not all that sure about that. Speakers are able to do things that headphones could never dream of. The sound stage on a good set of speakers makes headphones look like crap.

I second that.

Also, I like to feel my bass (I'm a bass junky, which obviously means I can't be that much of an audiophile, haha!)

I have my headphones for private listening and listening at late hours. If I had the privallege to use speakers all day long without disturbing others I would take every penny spent in my headphone system and put it into my speaker system.

Kev, get on msn, need to speak to you about the tutoring stuff.
