Real Audiophiles don't use headphones.:p

Ever listened to some music with a pair of STAX Electrostatic headphones driven with a Tube Amp?
I have and they sounded excellent, but $5K was a bit much.

Omega's I'm guessing, haha.

But still, they will never compare to a good speaker setup do to the limits of headphones.

Also, I like to feel my bass (I'm a bass junky, which obviously means I can't be that much of an audiophile, haha!)

I have my headphones for private listening and listening at late hours. If I had the privallege to use speakers all day long without disturbing others I would take every penny spent in my headphone system and put it into my speaker system.

Kev, get on msn, need to speak to you about the tutoring stuff.

Same here. I started out as a car stereo guy so I was a bass-head. I learned a lot being around guys involved in home audio though and converted from a bass-head to a semi-audiophile. I like my music but don't have the money for the gear.

Nope. Not really my cup of tea. I prefer the big stuff and not feeling tied down with wires. I can't relax with headphones on.

I don't remember the model number of the headphones or amp (both were STAX0. I listened to them back in 1990 when I was living in Iceland.

Actually, these sounded so real that it was hard to distinguish if you were listening to a recording or something live.
For example, the demo disc had a recording of a lady opening up a door and walking around the room while talking and I swear it sounded like she was actually there in the room since the headphones reproduced her position so accurately.

the recording of a ferrari starting up and driving away was also so real, only thing missing was the smell of the exaust.
