While playing around with my 28-300 lens today I snapped a bunch of pics of my boys and thought I'd post for feedback. The orig had his right eye mostly in shadows, so i lightened mids and saturated a little, airbrushed out some spots, and cropped a bit.

His mom doesn't like it much but I think there's something about it...

Comments would be appreciated.

Great shot, eyes very clear, almost a bit too sharp.

Thanks for the compliments and feedback so far. 1/320 sec., f/5, focal length 84mm, ISO 400.

Here's another...baby is OOF while toy on the left side is nice and sharp. *sigh* Suggestions?

I'd love some tips on making pics of my kids look less like snapshots -- more professional.

I select my autofocus point to the middle one (or what ever you are trying to focus on), so that it doesnt choose the wrong thing to focus.
You have some great shots, just keep taking a bunch, and kinda do a trial and error, thats what i usually do! lol

I guess, if you can hanhold a slower shutter image, slow down the shutter, and use lower ISO, try to stay 200 or lower, to keep grain down. what was you light source? Window, indoor...

Lighting and shutter speed have never been my friends. I prefer natural light to flash but need fast shutter speeds to compensate for shakey hands, and I have yet to figure out the built in flash and corresponding EC controls. So these were all window lit mid-day. As for noise, this afternoon I downloaded NoiseNinja and Neat Image. So far I like what I see.

Thanks for your suggestions.
