The usual suspects really...

All with the 30D + 100-400mm handheld at 400mm (though it's reporting 390mm in the Exif for some reason).

Starling. I missed the focus on the head here, but I quite like the sense of movement anyway

Black-headed gull in hot pursuit of a starling.

Notwithstanding that I "pinioned" both birds, I like this last shot. These two were absolutely hooning along, and yet - again - the too-slow, no-good-for-flight-shots 100-400mm did a pretty good job, IMHO..!

;)

Redshank

Just thought I'd chuck this one in too...

I do like the Stonechat Keith. I have had a couple of tries at these lately but have yet to get a decent shot.
Nice shots mate.

if only the wing tips on the gull and starling it would have been a prize winner ,a great set of shots ,why do you say the 100-400 is no good for flight shots that one is great superb with the wing tips ,a few loafs of bread and a lot of practics maybe ,if you get feed up with it i will give it a good home

Wonderful images Keith, you've certainly caught that irridescence in the first Starling image - always had a soft spot for Starlings very intelligent birds!

Also had a look as some of your previous threads, really fantastic local captures, good composition, good lighting...first class:D

Great shots. The starlings are fantastic, especially #2. I wonder where our starlings are? Only seen a couple all year.

Hey, this is a reallly nice set. I hear that these Starling are consider nuisance birds. I have never seen one, but you have presented them very nicely here. Nice color on them. I also really like the last shot of the Redshank. Vivid colors and good lighting with that shot. Nice work Keith!
