Hey guys., I just got done reading the GND filer thread, and there was a lot of info, but I think I need it a little bit clealer.

I want a GND setup for my 17-40. I will use these for landscapes mostly at sunset and sunrise. Right now I am unintrested in the ful ND, I will get that after the GND. Thanks in advance.
1-What Brand/Type of filter shoudl I be looking at?
2-How much will it run me(in US$).

I want to get the stuff by next week, so any help would be great.

Money is an issue also. I am a working college student, trying my best to buy as much gear as I can while saving for next semesters costs.

I would caution you to not get a screw-in (round) grad. If you do, you're stuck with the transition being smack in the middle of the frame. Get a rectangular one. Singh Ray and Lee are the best, but pricey (Singh Ray, which I use, runs $100 each). If you can live with it, Cokin's grey grads aren't really neutral density, but are cheap. In any case, get the Cokin Wide holder and a 77 mm adapter ring.

For the COkin, which ND filters should I pick up? Like I said, I am doing landscapes at Sunset and Sunrise.

"8x Resin"
What does Resin mean?

I agree Jon, but I went for a screw-in type just because it was compact and seemed good enough to learn with. If I get to the point where I'm more proficient using a GND I'll look at getting a rectangular holder GND system.

michael, it all depends on the subject and lighting and tons of other variables...in short, there is no "One" do it all filter.. I only have one and its all i need but at times id like to have more...lol I got a three stop, soft grad Singh ray... If you look at some of the well known guys gear lists youll see they own quite a few different filters in both soft and hard grads from 2 to 6 stops... lol

I realize I will be getting more than one. What is the difference between a hard and soft filter?
