So this is my first attempt at merging one image into another. I know the lighting is off but is it still a decent first attempt?

Took a studio shot image, wiped out the background and merged it with one I took last year at the Volcano ... then desaturated for a better merge and dropped in a photo filter for an aging effect.

Clean merge but doesn't look realistic. To answer your question, I think it's a great first attempt. :)

Good merge, something is off not sure what. Maybe you size relative to the mountain or maybe it's how close you appear to the lens?

The conversions don't seem to match up...you are one tone and the background seems to be another. I think that is what throws it off for me.

Sorry Dave, but it looks more like you are standing in front of a big poster. If it is any consolation though the aging effect worked as you look to be at least 90! ;)

Thanks for the comments. This was done for the employee board at the Digital Image Studio on Campus. The requirements were that we merge our image, and it had to look merged...

I met the requirements, as you all have confirmed. Here's the final version to be posted at work.

I think it would work more believable if you were wearing sunglasses and something else than a ball cap. A little frost on the mustache would help too ;-)a

Not much to add, Dave, except: You don't really need an aging filter.
