OK Aaron, since you asked: All but one of these, the third one, make me scratch my head and wonder what the purpose of the shot was? The first one is a kicker tee-ing up the ball (OK, so?), the second a guy flying over a ball carrier (with the runner terribly out of focus - again, why take this shot?) and the last one the back of a defender before a play (is this guy supposed to mean something to us? Who is Moen, and why did you take a picture of his back?).
I guess what I'm saying is your images don't show much action nor tell much of a story. Not very compelling stuff. The shot of the runner breaking through the line is better.
What was your objective in choosing your subject for these images? In general, you want to show faces in your shots, and the ball, when it is part of the action. Backs are normally consdired throw-aways. Shots taken between plays (also called 'safety shots') are OK, but normally they need to be very tight, very sharp, and definitely show the face of the subject.
I applaud you for posting and looking for comments. This is a very good forum, and I'm sure you'll find a lot of constructive comments. Your position wasn't optimal, and your equipment is only fair, so I'd say for a first attempt, you did pretty well. Keep shooting, and you'll notice improvement. Any way you can get on the sidelines?
