Annual event just north of Los Angeles. The last of three Battle reenactment was at night which made for dramatic cannon shots.

They call this "Great Ball of Fire"

I really like the last one. It really feels like... back then. it's got a great mood about it. I also like how the foregroun is blurred. Nice set. :D

hey thanks all. For some reason, I wanted to stay away from monotone, I guess b/c it's done a lot. The shot does look good in monotone as well though.

As for the last shot with the blurred foreground, it's the bigma, though it's not fast, it's long focal length helps to really isolate the subject.

Lots of great pics in your gallery! I attended my first reenactment this past summer - LOTS of great photo ops. Good timing on the cannon "great balls of fire" shot. It's hard to figure out when they are going to fire. I prefer full color pics. Great for hanging on the wall. Did you have any problems avoiding modern things like power lines, cars, etc.?

Here in VA, it's very popular, but only held on Sundays so I can never get to them. But they are really big and people come from all over. It's funny, the Confederate Army is always bigger and better dressed and everyone wants to be on that side. :)

A thanks all. I guess in VA, folks feel more aligned with the Confederates than the Union.
:) I think here, it was about same.
