Took a few snaps at our local Table Tennis Centre at Halifax, West Yorkshire at the weekend. It was the veterans county weekend tournament and was played in the usual good sporting spirit. The lighting was particularly bad and these have been shot at ISO3200 with a 2.8L 70-200mm lens. I have removed some noise but they have not been sharpened at all. Hope you like em!

impressive for ISO 3200 - what camera were you using? Glad I shoot tennis - you usually get less cluttered backgrounds than you had to put up with.

Hi Racketman
I was using a 20D in AV mode with white balance on auto. Quite surprised at how good they turned out.

This is the first time I've seen pics of table tennis competition. Very nice.

Very nice Stan. I've enjoyed these very much indeed. I've only covered table tennis a couple of times but I can appreciate how tough it is to shoot! It is a very fast moving sport... usually played in dimly lit gyms just like the one you experienced

Nice work.

Thanks for sharing these, Stan. It's always great seeing shots of some of the less commonly photographed sports.

Captured very well indeed! I never would've guessed they were at ISO 3200.

What sort of shutter speed do you need to freeze a ping pong ball in full swing?
