Mark and Leo (and Mike and me) could certainly have a mini-meet if Scottie prefers his own company. ;)

I've been told so much about the beauty of Edinburgh from a Scotsman friend of mine... I just have to go there someday... within the next few years ;-)a

Last one for me, those steps provide a natural lead-in, all the elements coming together in a very satisfactory whole.

Great views John, I've never been to Edinburgh, but your images really bring it to life.

Thanks for sharing John.
Often looked up at the castle but never down.
I used to frequent the second hand bookshops .. great bargins to be had.
My wife and I once cycled around Edinburgh and Glasgow .. as one local put it .. "Scarieee Man".

I would recommend it, Edinburgh is a very nice city.

Thanks EA. Does/did your son not stay near Aberdeen (or somewhere in that direction?)

Thank you, and with our typical skies, we get plenty of chances to practice. ;)

I would prefer cycling round Edinburgh to Glasgow - if forced too...

Very nice John, like being there!
One day I'll make it back and try to spend a couple of days there, also I want to take
the train as FAR north as you can go in Scotland too, just to say I've been there!

Thanks Gary (and thanks for resurrecting my thread ;) ). Train-trip wise, I would recommend that you try the Jacobite Express from Fort William to Mallaig (not that I've been on it yet) as the scenery in that part of the country is beautiful. The train is a steam locomotive that goes over a viaduct at Glenfinnan, and both of these were used in the Harry Potter films.

You're welcome, I was searching about for things on Edinburgh and found this
thread and felt it could use some time at the surface :)

Also your one shot there looking down at the back side of the Church, I took
this shot aiming up to the castle;

I need to take the tour of the Castle again, didn't make time this last visit
but back in the mid 80's I took a train up from Doncaster and then back the
same night, long day ! but went into the Castle on that trip.

Man, you had better weather than I... it was so windy when we went to the Castle, they had to close it and kick everyone out :(
