yep thats definitly you. see you there. i was thinking of going with the 120-300, but i figured either way i couldnt afford a new lens this season, and if i was going to get a loan i might as well get the best. well, short of the 400 2.8, it would be ludicrous for someone my age to own that lens..... if its not for me to own the 300 2.8. but no matter what people say, you NEED to have the equipment to shoot sports. you need the eye and the skill aswell, but you NEED the equipment.

Billy,

If I'm not mistaken, that's you off to the right in this picture, and the cool, old, bald guy in the backround, behind Brandon Ore, I believe, with the Lady In Red cleary visible in the lower left of the picture. I'm off frame, way to the right, getting my final shot of the day.

Apologies to Al Diaz and the Herald (but I DID cut off Ore's head when I cut the image from the Herald's site, which made it pretty much unusable)...;)

One thing about the 120-300, as noted even in this series posted here, I took the zoomed shot of Ore when he began his TD run with this len at 300mm, AND his celebration with his linemen with the same lens at 120. Let's see a prime do THAT. I could have always flipped my 70-200 into action, but I almost never seem to think fast enough to do this.

Same thing happened with the series I shot of Moss' TD run - he ran right AT me, and I just kept zooming back, refocusing, reshooting, zooming, refocusing, shooting, etc.

Kind of like this shot taken earlier in the year, which happened right in front of me, that I would have been REALLY missed had I not had the 120-300. This is one of my favorite shots I got this year 'cuz you can see where Jones is looking (in the visor - he didn't make the TD, BTW; just barely missed it in a lunge, but he DID score on the next play):

yes indeed, for this reason i stopped keeping the 70-200 around my shoulder and hang it around my neck to i can just let go of the 300 and grab it in one motion. i also make sure the exposure is up to the current lighting conditions so either is ready to go as soon as possible.

i was on the other end of the endzone for moss's TD run. hes a big boy but man can he move.

I definately like these shot purley on how they look. It is an added bonus that I am a Hokie Alumni and was very happy to see a win against Miami at the OB.
