yep thats definitly you. see you there. i was thinking of going with the 120-300, but i figured either way i couldnt afford a new lens this season, and if i was going to get a loan i might as well get the best. well, short of the 400 2.8, it would be ludicrous for someone my age to own that lens..... if its not for me to own the 300 2.8. but no matter what people say, you NEED to have the equipment to shoot sports. you need the eye and the skill aswell, but you NEED the equipment.
One thing about the 120-300, as noted even in this series posted here, I took the zoomed shot of Ore when he began his TD run with this len at 300mm, AND his celebration with his linemen with the same lens at 120. Let's see a prime do THAT. I could have always flipped my 70-200 into action, but I almost never seem to think fast enough to do this.
Same thing happened with the series I shot of Moss' TD run - he ran right AT me, and I just kept zooming back, refocusing, reshooting, zooming, refocusing, shooting, etc.
Kind of like this shot taken earlier in the year, which happened right in front of me, that I would have been REALLY missed had I not had the 120-300. This is one of my favorite shots I got this year 'cuz you can see where Jones is looking (in the visor - he didn't make the TD, BTW; just barely missed it in a lunge, but he DID score on the next play):
