My first attemt at a full moon, no tripod, just looked up..... took the shot and then downloaded it to the puter shrunk it and put it on here. Now I want a longer lens.....

The fast shutter shots actually didnt look as good to me when I looked at them but like i said, I just tried a few shots at different setting. I think I really needed to do them with a tripod and 6-8 different setting and see what I get. Anyways, it was fun and here is another one

More info | Nov 05, 2006 20:00 | #4 Kick your shutter speed up...these are pretty blown out. Try one at 1/250 and f/8...see if that doesn't look a little more realistic to you. The moon is moving...so with a decent shutter speed, you can get a good shot without resorting to a tripod....the tripod is just a plus. People that know me call me Dan

Your ASA was 100, this should have given you a starting point of 1/100 @ f16, not the 1/125 @ f5.6. Perhaps bracket 1 to 1-1/2 stops either side in 1/2 stop increments. Remember that when we view the moon, it is simply an object in full sun and as such it gets the same exposure as an object in full sun in the middle of the afternoon.
