Cool. I got fungus!

I lost the lenscap for my kit lens back in september on a shoot and still dont' have a replacement. Then I started shooting with primes and haven't used the lens for 2 months.

I just left it in my photo drawer lens up.

Today I looked at it and the fron element has about 20 spots of fungus growing there.

Apparently - the lens caps protect the lens from fungus... which makes sense. The fungus from the air simply doesn't land there.

Is it growing on the inside or outside of the glass?

Outside - I cleaned it already and the lens look brand new... it just got me thinking how easy it is to get it.

I got a dry a cabinet for peace of mind. Cost 1.5 nifties (new international form of currency )

I keep my lenses capped and in seperate lens bags when not in use...given the expense to acquire them I guess you could call me paranoid about their care
