Yes; it is the Mormon Temple.

Before it was officially opened; non-Mormons could get a tour of the inside.
Amazing and breathtaking come to mind.

Note the statue on the left spire. It's grounded with the biggest cables I have ever seen in order to protect the whole structure from Lightning strikes.

I've always wondered where I could shoot this unobstructed as it sits next to the freeway with a Shopping center on the other side of the freeway. Looks like someone from another country (No offense Rumrunner) has found a spot with better views than what I have found so far.

Nice shot!

AND you caught it on a night without the La Jolla fog killing the whole picture!
-Tom D.

Thanks Tom, yeah I can't even imagine how magnificent the inside is

I can remember that I took it from some kind of exit ramp or junction, I had to park off on the shoulder and setup the tripod with people passing and honking at me!

Since your from that area, I'd like to share one of my favorite pictures of La Jolla...

It's a beautiful church and you've definitely done it justice.

What makes this stand out is the blackness of the sky and comp of the church on the left. Great shot!

Thanks alot. Somehow, I lost the exif data from it but think this was a 30 sec exposure @ 50mm, ISO 100 and about f7.1.

Tom, he just had the balls to set up on a freeway offramp. :D

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”

It looks like a stunning building and very well designed externally.
Technically now the picture is a bit overexpossed, the best thing would be to take the picture while there is still some light in the sky (not much, just enough) , so you don`t have this huge contrast of black / white to worry about.

Your right, some parts of the building are overexposed while other part are underexposed. The histogram looked like the grand canyon. They definately use some very powerful lights on this building.

I'm LDS, a.k.a. "Mormon." It's more than a normal Sunday Church it's the sacred place where we go to get married and do work for the dead by proxy.

That's a beautiful capture, I've only been there (to that one) in the day, never been inside.
