a local barn last week
(winter stock piling up):)
not nearly as much character as the old wrecks (Sandy's and others)
but 'made for today' and 'here' I guess

probably these will be different again from whats to come in the future

I love how the different countries show different 'designs' as to whats suitable to the needs at the time
weather conditions and size of farm ,and the stuff available (in the past) to build them as securely as possible

Nice photos, and I must say a very interesting barn design. All through history barns have been designed with one thing in mind, what the need and size of the farm is. So I guess as farming methods change so must the barns.

I've never seen one like that here. You always seem to find something a bit different, Marie!

I really like the second one. Oddly, it's the masonry work that really catches my attention in that one. Perhaps it says alot about farmers/farming as well in that you use what you have and make it work. Well, that's the romantic version anyway. I mean, he could just suck at masonry. ;)
Very nice series.

thank you very much for the comments Sandy, Frank
and Robert, I agree with you completely
how I wished the blocks had been done properly.
even just for that photograph

wondered was it any different from anywhere else Frank and Sandy
some of the old sheds are falling down and the colour is not so great anymore
this one seems quite new

Interesting shots, Marie! I have never seen a barn that looks quite like that. Although the barn looks fairly new, the bricks look like they have been around for a while and I think they add to the photos.

thank you Carol
most of the barns over here are built that way.

in a way they are not the old true barns in that they don't deserve the name as much as the old style , I suppose

as regards the blocks
I think they must have used any old stuff left lying the yard from another building job done
and thought it would not be noticed
but one really shows up the other (the new barn and the workmanship/blocks of the wall support

and a photograph really shows up both

(maybe it will be plastered in time)
