Photographed Nov 3rd 2006

Hi all :)

Last Thursday I witnessed a gorgeous sunrise, unfortunately I was stuck at work and could only watch as it unfolded. The weather reports for the day after were of a similar nature so I decided to get an early night and head out at 5.00AM to drive to my destination Elie in Fife.

I visited this area 1st in the summer
https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=176276I mentioned in a comment on shot 5 from that day the areas potential, well I wasn't dissappointed, with a little help from mother nature I had a very enjoyable 3 hours.

Canon 10-22 @12mm | f13 | 1/30s | ISO100 | 0.6 NDG + Sunset2

More to follow in a few days, I have a lot of similar compositions from that day that I just have to decide which I prefer.

As always C&C most welcome and appreciated :)

Thanks for looking :)

Clever clogs with number 3.
Scott you could get hammered by the purists re the 'rules' for number 2 but that is my favourite.
The sky and the fg just suck you into the horizon through the darkness of those rocks.

I love #3. Very smart to use the building and sun that way. Plus you had an interesting sky and you were able to expose the foreground enough to show detail. Good job!

Beautiful shots Scottie. The second to me is the best of the bunch but I love how you have the light coming through on the third. Very well done.

One question, what is a "Sunset2"?

... and Paul sucked the words right out of my mouth! As soon as I saw #2, I was sucked into it powerfully - that is now one of my all time favourites of yours, Scottie. Very well done! :D

I like #3 very much as well. Great sunburst! :)

Cheers Alan, Funny you say that about the 2nd one as it's the one out of the three that has been affected the least by the sunset filter.

I agree Neil thanks mate, I just had to find a few pools down by the water to reflect the beautiful sky.

Screw the purists mate ;) It might seem a little central but it works for me too buddy, a little lower would've meant the inclusion of my feet, a little higher would've meant too much sky IMO.

Thanks Scott, No:2 was taken at a pool left by the high tide, it was mirror smooth and easy to work with.

Thanks Robert mate, Sunset2 looks like a soft ND grad, instead of the neutral shading it is a Red tinting, used in moderation with skies like above I find it quite appealing.

Thanks loads Mike, Without blowing my own trumpet I was very happy with my work that morning, I've had plenty of good afternoons shooting but you can't beat working in lowlight like this, especially with a clear sky.

Cheers everyone :D

But...are not the rules there for someone to break them?:lol:
I agree,my fav of the lot.
# 1 has a halo (looks to me anyway) and #3 has a nice ...Scottie boy...touch to it.;)
