Ok, I know I am going to get many posts on going back on my lens philosophy. I vowed never to buy a lens slower than f/2.8. That changed today. BUT let me explain further.

Well I am taking the family to the "Mouse House" for the Christmas season and wanted to add a lens to my 24-70. Well, my rationale is that dragging 2 kids all over the enchanted kingdom, I need to lighten my load and go minimalistic. I went to the shop today and this strange voice was calling me. YEP, the 70-200 f/4 IS. This thing can damn near fit in my pocket yet has great focal length and IS. So my 5D with out grip, 24-70, 70-200 f/4 IS and batteries will be in Mickey's face allowing me to focus on documenting the experience and enjoying myself and my kids company.

SO... Call me a hypocrite or getting wiser. BUT REST ASSURED, after this trip, there will be a very well cared for 70-200 f/4 IS going up on the marketplace. As many that have bought my "cast off lenses" (and i miss them all, except the 50 1.8), this lens was hand picked for sharpness. It is Razor. Heck it should be, its an L.

If people are interested I'll make up a mini review with pics.

I am sure u understand that the IS will not stop the action and F4 is too slow for indoors on its own. Can't wait to see the pics!

No, I got that. I am going to bring a flash, rather than traveling with my 5 speedlights, I'll just have one. :(

For inside rides and the character dinners, lunches and breakfasts, I'll have on the 24-70.
Outside for longer needs, ITs going to be the 70-200 f/4. Cant believe I am saying f/4. I feel so dirty.. :):)

Unless my 50L shows up, no. Obviously you dont have kids, :) as I am going to need to go as light as possible. NO grip! Man, all my shots are going to be in the landscape orientation!!! :(

You should have started the post with "for all those who know me...it's advisable to sit down"....if I had a "pass out" smilie, I'd use it right now....

SO... Call me a hypocrite or getting wiser.

It's wise to use the right tool for the job and part of that decision making is usually how sensible it is to walkaround with a big fat lens just get a tad of extra blur in the background, when no one notices it anyway. They notice the smile on your kids faces and their energy for life. They notice the perfection of composition and the message, if there is one. Seems you made a great choice.

My wrist will actually rotate on my arm so I somehow manage to get by without the extra handle. I guess I'm gifted that way.

Have fun on your trip!
