Methinks this is but an excuse to get another outstanding lens. The speed thing is silly anyway.

Are you sure you want to drag all that stuff around Disneyland? If I were you, and I have been, many times (kids, wife, going from land to land, ride to ride, eating questionable foods at ridiculous prices, etc., etc.) I'd take a good point & shoot. Much more manageable, easy to carry with you on rides, at restaurants, etc..

Of course you should get the lens anyway!

Last time I hit the House of Mouse I had nothing but the 1D2N and a 24-70mm f/2.8. Worked out great. I can't see using the 70-200mm f/2.8 too much, but it'll be nice to have on-hand.

If you really want to freak people out, walk through the misting stations at Epcot with the weathersealed gear. :D

Dante,
Your leaving home the 85L 1.2 ?
I would think that it would be a great lens for DL.

I would bring the 50L (if you get it in time) and the 85L... :)

f/4 hasn't slowed down my style of photography yet. So far all the results I've seen with this lens have been very sharp

Good choice, Dante. We've been pass holders for years at Disneyland, and my 17-85 is great for night shots. So much of what you're going to shoot is static, so the f4 won't hurt you a bit, the new IS is supposed to be wonderful, and nobody better dare critizise the sharpness of the f4. I'll be keeping my eyes on the Marketplace after the Holidays. Enjoy your trip.

DANTE!!!!

I'm APPALLED!!!!

First the 5D and now this 70-200/4. Next you will be asking whether I am selling my A530 for a good price (answer is no )

Actually after carrying my Sigma on some missions, I am beginning to wonder whether the f/2.8 is necessary. I don't shoot night sports or indoor sports (beer drinking does not count, besides I can use flash for that, it brings out all the nice dilated pupils, even the 430EX). For the outdoor action I shoot, I'm even wondering whether my upcoming 100-400 will do. Something tells me it will, because I already stop the Sigma down to f/4.

Err wait, what am I doing mentioning a Sigma in Dante's thread? This'll get me flamed to death... ;)

Well, Lightstream, you never know...he may just bite on it and convert completely to Sigma...I'm sure he's got a fever or something....

I fear by that time it is too late....that would be the End of All Things, we'd better grab our own L's and run for cover :P

Err, did you just say 2.8 prime L? Better be a telephoto. ;)

Anyway Dante...today I am going out to shoot a cow in sheep's clothing (no kidding) after work, and since it's not a serious shoot, I packed my lightweight kit.. 350D, 17-85 IS USM, 70-300 IS USM.. the PERFECT lightweight allaround IS kit, closest thing to a P&S superzoom that I own. So don't feel bad.

For a more affordable version without L build quality, the 70-300 IS image quality is really surprisingly good, even when shot on a 5D. That little lens hangs with all my L's and doesn't worry about it.

What do you even need a f2.8 Lens for Dante? Every shot of yours I have seen are in good daytime light. f4 is more then enough for most daytime shots so don't worry about f4 as being too slow, it's too fast during the daytime often anyways. Best of luck.
