Ok, I don't need this lens. I just got a set of extention tubes and tried them out on my 50 with great results. Love the colors. Can't help but think how good they might be with that 135. I really like to shoot flowers.

JUST TELL ME NOT TO GET IT!

Thanks.
Adam

You have two of the four lenses I have, the 24-70L and 100mm macro. If you get the 135L you will have another one as well.

Well, if you have AMEX Shopping Rewards you can get it for 30% off...that is a $300 savings! I am so tempted to cash in my points...I have just enough! AMEX has 185 Canon items (bodies, hoods, and lenses) on a 30% sale if you use Reward Points :) See below:

If you're going to use it and can afford, I highly recommend it. It's a great lens for portraits, and it produces beautiful Bokeh. It's also useful for indoor events and it's sharp at f/2.0.

don't get the 135L.... get the 180L Maco instead ;)

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Well, the 135L is an amazing lens...I love it. Just did a portrait shoot with it and remembered just HOW much I love this lens...it's really hard to screw up a photo with it, for sure ;)

however, I think macro lenses are better for flowers....and you already have one. But if you want an all around amazing lens, buy it...you know you want to!

I don't think it's a cash discount. It's a discount if you are using your points from the credit card. So you have to already have the card and have built up the points.

Mike,

You have to be a member of the AMEX Membership Rewards program. You get points for all charges to the AMEX card. Over time they will add up and you can cash them in for all kinds of consumer goods. I bill everything I can to AMEX...utilities, cable, phones service, gas, groceries, etc. I pay off my bill once a month as AMEX does not carry a balance. The wife and I average about $4K a month in charges...but rememebr we pay everything we can using the AMEX card.

I got my 100MM EF Macro lens this way...it cost about 100K in points and "free" to me.

The current promo is for 30% off on many Canon products. The 135 L sells for $900 at Amazon.com and I can get it 126,768 points instead of the usual 181,188 points. That equates to about $300 in savings off the cash price.

I currently have 126K points in the "bank" and I am so tempted to get this lens...it would put me back to zero points but what a deal :-)

When I was selling up the Olympus film SLR gear and choosing either Canon or Noink... could've gone either way... I found pix off PBase that had something "special". The 135L.

No argument; get it.
