Does anyone know if there is a free program that can scan a disk and collect all the EXIF data from CR2, TIFF, JPEG, and PSD image files then write that information into one CSV text file? I've tried Breeze Browser Pro but it can only do one directory at a time and that will take me forever. Thanks

You can download Perl (http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/ (external link)) then get ExifTools (http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/ (external link)).

You can then do something like:

exiftool.pl -S -t -r directoryName > file.txt

file.txt will contain alternating lines of path/file name and tab seperated tags.

There is an option to have the tag name as well but then each tag is on a separate line with the value on the same line separated by a tab.

If you know Perl, or some other text manipulation tool, then you can easily manipulate the output however you want.

Thanks for the reply!!! I'll install and let ya know how it works. As long as I can get a tabbed output I can import into a database.

Simply awesome! Took a few hours to figure how to install and get it to work correctly but what a great tool. Thanks E-K for the info. Took 20 minutes to scan one drive but I now have a database of all EXIF data for TIFF, PSD, CR2 and JPG (4 tables) sorted by directories/file name for over 10,000 photos. Again thanks. Exactly what I was looking for.
