Sorry for this but i seem to be missing something.
I notice the lens has AF and MF modes, but i do not see a MF ring to adjust the focus with. Is there another way to focus or what?
Sorry for the newb question.

It's right at the front.

It does have a manual focus ring, right at the front.

The manual focus ring is the rotating ring on the very front of the body

The focus ring is right there... on the front! It's a bit small and not very easy to focus with. But it's there!

It's an international forum. It's only 9:50pm here in Australia :)

You've discovered the very reason why I will never consider buying a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens. It is just like the 18-55 "kit" lens in that the filter thread ring doubles as the manual focus ring.

You will discover on the 18-55 that the focussing changes so quickly as you rotate the manual focus ring that it is VERY difficult to focus manually. This is especially true when using the 300D with its very dim viewfinder (dimmer than the 20D and better DSLR's using better viewfinder optics - pentaprism vs mirrors, etc.).
