When you are sending your photos to a publication do you send all of your photos to let them choose which ones they want? Do you do your own PP before submitting?

The reason I ask this is, I have submitted my photos to a couple publications they both wanted all the pictures I had shot without any PP. In one case I saw what they published and was a little unhappy how the photo turned out. I wish I could have done my own PP.

What would you recomend that I do in the future?

Thanks

I wish I could have done my own PP.

BTDT, & as long as you get paid, then get used to it. They have the right to screw it up any way that they want, & I've seen most of the ways that they can do it. ;) Solution is to put the tear sheet in your portfolio along with a version of the shot that you like.
Mostly, they're going to be working in CMYK, so they need to do thier own PP.

Most want to do their own PP and have a better idea of how to do it since they should know how their cmyk printers will reproduce things.

When asked, I will do a very minor PP just to balance the exposure and then let them do the rest.

If you are shooting for money, give them what they ask for. It's their rag. You aren't going to get that much recognition from a little squib under a shot.

A 40D, a 30D, some nice glass and a great Shooting Partner.

I do my own PP for my newspaper, I just change it to cmyk color and then send them the eps files.
