Hi everyone

Just a few weeks ago these pictures were taken , a wet morning that finaly at one point it stoped rainning let us take a couple of shots.
The good point of the rain was that the rocks were all wet , which makes for a good effect , it brings out their colours nicely.;)

The ground there is fast crambling away and i believe that within a few years, the first serious problems for the castle will start.
The higher ground seemed like in the past it was at a different hight level from today , its a mixture of soil and pebbles, even at 10 meters higher than sea level.

Click images for larger version please , and CC welcome as always.

both lovely shots Dimitri
I really like the textures and colours on the foreground rocks in the 1st .......... the 3 big rocks lead the eye nicely to the castle.
I really like the foreground of the second one but can't help thinking it would be nicer if the castle was a bit more off centre...

very nice indeed as always Dimitri. I personally prefer the second one. I like how the landscape leads the eye to the castle. Your right about those rocks though...some great colours there!

Both excellent images Dimitri

I love the detail in the foreground rocks, hope you didn't have to clone any Buggbairns out of your shots down there.

You've captured the "alleyway" of the cliffs at a great angle in the 2nd shot too :)

Some of the most original shots of Dunnotar I have seen for a while... I've taken similar shots a few years back, no idea where the shots have got to now :(

Lovely dimitri, an the second photo in particular is very effective with the "alleyway" as Scottie termed it, giving a nice lead-in to the castle.

Excellent Dimitri (as always). The second shot for me, just love the way the valley draws you to the castle. The first just doesnt draw me in the same way, but still a cracker. Good work my friend.

Couldn't agree more. As much as I love the stones in the first and the lovely composition, the second just really works for me. Great job Dimitri.

Superb Dimitri.

A unique viewpoint away from the usual 'postcard' shots you see of this castle.

You're right about the soil and pebbles too.
A very unusual sight so high up the castle perimeter and makes you wonder how much longer it will last on such a fragile base, but it has been there for a very long time and used to have a wooden fortress on the site.

I must find my way down to that pebble beach one day!

Good observation Alan, the probleb though was the limited space we had.
