Hi

I have a big problem, just come from a month holiday to find that my memory card is corrupted, i have managed to recover the files but some of them appear grey upwards from the bottom with only part of the image still viewable, the windows preview of the image though is complete with no corruption. Anyway i can repair these images?

Any advice will be useful!

Thanks

Mitch88

Try redownloading the images from the card to the computer. It doesn't always work, but it occasional clears up the problem. There are also data recovery programs available. Sandisk makes a version for use with their cards.

The preview that works - is this by connecting the camera then viewing the images on your PC, or using a card reader?

Try downloading them straight from the camera via its USB cable, AND via a card reader. I have known it to happen where one method doesn't work, whereas the other might.

Good luck!

This website helped me about three times during the old smartmedia days when I had an Olympus P&S. It makes an image of the unreadable card and then you run a perl script on the file. Beware that it is time consuming (installing Perl for example) but it worked like a charm for me. Might not be a bad idea to at least get a disc image from the card now (as shown in the instructions) just in case it gets worse.

Good luck if you try it!
