Are you guys referring to compact P&S, or any P&S (powershot pro, Canon G series, SD series, S series, etc?)
I've been thinking of getting a G6, but it does raw so I'm sure you could fix up some of the problems you'de encounter.

Canon EOS 30D, Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 105 Macro, 135L, 430ex, Lowepro Mini Trekker AW, Manfrotto 3001pro w/486rc2 and 804rc2 head, Manfrotto 681 w/ 3232 head.

I've never heard of photographers complaining about Canon cameras.

The general public's opinions of photographs and photography have definitly changes since Digital overtook film. Everyone is now a photographer. I was shooting a youth event at our church with a dSLR. I was surounded with parents with P&S's. I posed the kids and while I shot, so did they, (distracting my subjects). One comented that they didn't know why I was shooting since they all had cameras. Photography is now pushing a button. No mention of the time I put in preparing the scene, posing the kids etc.
Another time, I was showing some folks a picture I took that was a real challenge. Low light, lousy setting. I got some pretty good shots. One person said "Wow that is some camera". While a dSLR is a much better camera than a P&S, no credit was given for knowing how to use it.
But am I dscouraged? Absolutly not. As one poster said, these are not the people I want to work with anyway. I only do this part time and all word of mouth by people who have seen my work and are interested in paying for quality. The rest can go to Wal-Mart where they will ( and I'm not kidding here) be very happy.

I cheat using a polarizer. But do a little testing anf you'll see a polarizer adds back (plus a bit) what the lens takes away from your eye.

We all hop up our images, but the requests I've been getting lately border on cartoon quality colour.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.
