My initial "test". I have studied these threads on wide lenses for weeks and got the Tamron 17-50 f2.8. My decision was based on the sharpness reports and having f2.8 through out the range. Here's a shot at 17mm, f2.8, ISO 800 at 1/60, hand held. Second one is a 100% crop. I feel it looks sharp where focused. Wanted it for landscapes, portrait zoom, travel and walk around.:lol: I do appreciate this resource in helping with information!

Oooh, not bad. (for someone who ordinarily is not fond of Tamron's stuff like me, that's something). Seems very decent for f/2.8 wide open.

Also, good point in opening the bottle. I have a sparkling white in the fridge in anticipation of the 100-400's arrival :p
