A friend in California has a Canon EVS Elan II, and has some lenses to get rid of. One is a 28080 and one is a 75-300. These sound like the same lenses that fit my camera but I need to be sure. Are they the same that fit my 20D?

If they say EF on them then they will fit your 20D.

Indeed, all EF lenses are compatible with the EOS range, including digital EOS.

It might be a good idea to ask to test the lenses first, before you buy them from your friend. Maybe they don't just do what you want them to do. Or maybe they do. But only after testing you'll know.

Check out The Digital Picture for a general education on Canon lenses.

The two lenses your friend has will be Ok to get started with tho 28mm at the wide end is not very wide on a crop camera. but you will have a lot of fun and be able to take a lot of pictures!
