Let me just say that *with* GST and PST I save $1,300 CAD if I buy the Canon 70-200/2.8L IS USM in Canada... so you can just figure how much things cost here in Sweden. ;)

Yeah, but in fair, your all lovely blonde haired women with blue eyes who make Canadian women look like 400D'S in a sea of 1D MK II N's.

Watch out for duty and stuff, I know when shipping across US and Canada duty custom fees brokerage (if your not shipping that shouldn't matter) gets a little pricey sometimes.

How is it with the guarantee? Can you get international guarantee when buying in US and Canada?

If your talking about warranties, I do think they are limited to North America (I think if you buy a used lens from the States or something the warranty is still fine if it's under wraranty or whatever because your still in North America.)

What's 1 year going to do for you anyway? :D.

Considering how accident prone I am, one year warranty is good for me..

I will not order from the USA, I'll buy the lens *in* Canada. The only thing I'd have to worry about is the customs when I come back to Sweden, but how will they prove that I didn't bring the lens from Sweden? It doesn't say "Sold in Canada" engraved on the lens somewhere. The box and papers can be stored at my in-laws.

The warranty is a problem yes, but as I have family in Canada I can always ask them to help me. Only thing is that I'll pay the shipping back and forth as I doubt I need to be a resident to use the warranty as long as I have proof of purchase.

Heh, smugglign lenses. It's nothing against you personally, but I think that sometime's people try to save some money (in this case probably a considerable amount) and end up getting in trouble with customs (happend to my dad once.) I guess your right about them not being able to prove the lenses were bought in Canada though.

Call it smuggling if you want, then I'd be smuggling Kraft Dinner and Fudge too as I'll be buying that too and bring with me at home. Besides, even if I pay customs and taxes I *still* save money. So I don't see a problem at all getting "caught".

And another thought: What if I have rich in-laws who gives me the lens, how are they supposed to prove that? It's Christmas after all. :D

Hehe. Well, when my dad was caught trying to evade customs fees I remember they were harsh on him (in the States that is) and for many years they drove him nuts when crossing the boarder.

But I think your right and considering it is christmas time you shouldn't have a problem.

I'd be more worried about the Kraft Dinner and Fudge if I were the customs. Suspicious things to smuggle. :D :D :D :D

Curious:confused: If your travelling through Buffalo NY USA to get to Port Colbourne ON Can, I would deffinitely check out the US stores available to get the lens. You would save even more money probably. (Not even probably, really would save some serious cash!!)

As you are travelling in from Europe, you would not be taxed on the import to Canada, as you would leave with it. Your local tax on return issue would be another thing. You would pay local tax in NY.

This would give you a much lower price on the lens, as Canon Canada seems to think we're all filthy rich here. As well, you would avoid our crippling taxes, PST and GST, equal to 14% of purchase.

Order in advance and set the pick up date if you can.

Just a thought, as my Scottish background hates to see money wasted on silly regional pricing.
