Cost of good glass per pound (weight.)

Not sure what this info is worth. Did some calculations on what I paid for my lenses vs. what they weigh - cost per pound. I was suprized to see that the results did not vary that much. $300-$330/lb up to $750/lb. Maybe just an excuse for some to buy heavier lenses?

Mine average about $600 per pound.

Maybe I'm thinking of comapring to other hobbies such as Laptops, Rolls-Royce, designer dresses, Rolex watches, etc.

lol, that like complaining about gas costing USD2.20 a gallon, when you're paying 1.10 for a 16 oz diet or regular coke

if u add in the weight of the camera, it should bring the price down a tad right, since there are "glass" in the body too...
