Well I have decided to buy a grip for my Rebel, but im not sure if I sure spend $130 on the canon brand, or save a few bucks and get the Generic brand which seems to look like the same but without the "canon" written on it. What do you guys suggest?

*Edit, sorry just noticed this should go in Accesories....my bad*

the opteka does get regular praise, but i'd look into a used Canon one first.

I've got the Opteka grip, and for half the price it works just fine. Do a search in Accesories and you'll find plenty of threads, including one that does a side by side between the Opteka and the Canon.

There's really nothing wrong with opteka for the money you save.

I got the Opteka grip for my XT and loved it. It felt really nice. I couldn't tell the difference between mine and my friend's Canon grip. I bought it off amazon for $60 or $70 ( i can't remember exactly). I would highly recommend it.

I've got the Canon one, but I managed to get it half price as one of the camera shops was doing a promotional sale. Whichever one you get, you will enjoy it, and wonder how you managed without one!

I have the opteka and the only trouble I have with it is the secondary AE/FE lock button 'labels' are wearing off. I use a hand grip strap which is probably causing it. It really doesn't bother me though.

I got mine from Robinson's Camera Centre Calgary, Alberta Canada. Phone 403-233-8523. I paid $110.00 + $20.00 S&H. Hope this helps you out.
