Why would someone want a lens that curves thier pictures?

It gives a cool effect, and you can remove most of the curvature in PS and get a super-ultrawide. Fisheyes give a 180 degree picture, which is something you can't get with standard rectilinear lenses.

I was thinking about getting one- What would be the best fisheye for a 5d- They look like a lot of fun to me, I started wanting one after my 1st photo with the 17-40L @ 17mm. Any suggestions? canon?,sigma?

ChrisBlaze! You live in Hawaii. Lots of great subjects there. You could take cool images with a fish-eye or super wide lens.

Check out this beach pix from canon's own website for it's 15mm fish-eye lens:

You could also ask "Why would someone want a rectilinear superwide lens that stretches the edges?" :)

Here's some fisheye pictures, it's not for every occasion but sometimes I find it's a useful lens.

Most wide lenses will distort at the wide end, when close to the subject. As for actual fisheyes, I know someone who uses the sigma on a N*kon D100 and gets great results, so I imagine the canon is even better.

I'm thinking I'll probably get the Peleng 8mm once I get my 400D, since it gives a great effect for certain things

I have the Canon 15mm fisheye for my 5D and I really enjoy it. It is such a different lens when compared to my 16-35mm. The only thing I am not a fan of is that you just have to watch the conditions you use it in since there isn't any filter you can add to it.

Thanks for the info! I've read great reviews on that lens- better comments than the more expensive canon 14mm L f/2.8- Might have to try to find a good used copy- It looks like a fun lens to use.
