Re calibrated 28-135 IS Duck Shot

I own several L's and my 75-300mm IS is still one of my favorite lenses, almost tempts me to buy a 28-135mm IS or 17-85mm IS.

I just ordered the 28-135mm lens. How do I know if it needs recalibrating? Is that something you do to lenses that have been used over a certain amount of time? Where to you get something like this done?

It should be right on if it's new. You'll know if it's not, you won't be able to get a real sharp picture. And Canon is the only one who can do it as far as I know.

I just had a 100/400L done. Took a couple weeks and $193, but it's real sharp now. They replaced the IS unit, cleaned and calibrated. I am now going to send my 28-135 in for calibration soon. It's worth it, and I like the lens.

It has become my standard walk-about lens and have been very pleased with it since the calibration. I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed that I had to send in a new lens but I'm now happy I have it.
