I really wish the vignette wouldnt go into their heads and faces.. it makes it all look foggy and destroys an otherwise very pretty portrait

I totally agree with Song4TheMoon ... try re-doing it with a lot less feather in the vignette ... on a dupe layer. Then control it using a layer mask. A vignette should be for the background, and clothing only. I'll be anxious to see a better vignette from you.
