I had the choice between the Lensbaby 3G and a 2X Extender II for my 70-200 IS lens. They're roughly the same price.

I chose the Lensbaby!

I guess I'm in a whacky mood when I'm spending my money late at night. The cold light of day has me wondering. Oh well. Gotta play the cards I dealt.

Here's a kicker for my B&H order: According to B&H, the 3G isn't in stock, but they're accepting orders. They expect to have the item in 3-7 days. That's fair enough. HOWEVER, when I go to the Lensbabies web site, they're expecting to ship in early December and they'll ship on a first come first shipped basis. Not only do I get the lens for $28 less at B&H, but I get it 3 weeks earlier than I could get it from Lensbabies.com!

Way to go B&H! :D

Well, yeah, ok, so I'm guessing the "3-7 days" is an automated line of text they use on all special orders :(

If you use the PPE06 code at B&H, the lens is $242.

Any examples of the effect these Lensbabies can do?

Makes me wish (sorta) that I'd held out. I just got the LB 2 in September. Maybe I'll see if I can reverse-engineer the LB 3-style controls onto mine. A little epoxy, a few nuts and bolts . . . Think it'd work?

LOL! Yeah. That'd work. I'll send you some pictures of the controls when I get the lens in.

It looks like the bolts are loosely set into the base to allow them to pivot and loosely threaded through the front ring to allow the lens to move around as usual. I'm really interested to see how that works while allowing for fine tuning of the rods AND doesn't wear out the through-holes in the outer ring.

I was never impressed by the lensbabies look, but then again i'm very unimaginative. Couldnt you use the liquify filter in Photoshop to get that 'whooshy' blur effect?

Dont think i've looked at samples in a year or two, please post some when you get the lens!
