Hi,
I'm about to buy a 70-200mm f/4L USM at BH and I had a few questions.
Does the lens hood come in the package or do I buy that seperate?
And, would the Hoya "Introductory" filter kit (here (external link)) be any good or should I go for a better one? I'm mainly looking for a polarizer for around $100 or so I think.

Thanks!

all of the L lenses come with a hood.. and I would go with a slightly better filter..

Canon 30D BG_E2 Grip Rebel XT BG-E3 battery grip
Canon 50mm f1.8 Tamron 17-50 f2.8
Canon 70-200f4.0L 100-400L aka (Chuck)
a couple of bags and a lot of big ideas

Lens hood comes with it.

For a polarizer I would get this one:

EF-S:

Skip the kit, and find a single CP for the same price. That of course IF you really want/need one. The only filters I ever use on my 70-200mm f4 L are my ND filters I picked up for waterfall shots.

Really think so? I would get a normal one... One you can use a lens cap with.

If I am not mistaken, L lenses come with a hood. To make sure, click the tabs on the product description for what is included.

After spending $$$ on a very good lens I don't think putting on a cheap filter is the way to go. Either you go without a filter or use a super multi-coated filter like a Heliopan or Hoya Pro SMC.

John;)

Alright, well just placed an order for a 70-200mm F/4L. :D I chose next-day UPS air, so will I get it tomorrow or Monday?
And I should have a good $200 to spend on other stuff.. I think I'll go without a filter for now, get a memory card and case instead. Unless I could get both which may be possible.

Congragulation on the purchase of your new lens. For the price I don't know of any other lens that has the IQ of this one. It is great for outdoor sports as you can see below.

A couple months ago I got this CF card http://www.newegg.com ….asp?Item=N82E16820183153 (external link)
and it has performed flawlessly. For the price I couldn't pass up at least trying it. I've also got some sandisk cards but the ridata might be an option for you to look at.

Well I already have a SanDisk of about the same specs, so I imagine that'd be do-able which is nice.

The lens is on its way but it looks like I'll have to wait until Monday. :(

ah, no. you don't want the thin version for a tele lens - there are no front threads for a lens cap.

Get a multicoated, regular CP. Get top of the line for in front of your L glass

Good catch! That is the one I meant to recommend. Non multicoated is a bad deal. Thanks
