I think he is in trouble for something... :)

You did a good job with it. I don't think the subjects are right for this type of picture, but you did a nice job with the PP.

I like the second one way better. Two nit picks, the hair on her collar should go and it may look better if it had more black.

You can make it darker by creating a threshold layer in photoshop and sliding the bar all the way to the left until just a slight ouline remains. Mark a spot on the outline and then create a curves layer. Set your black point to the spot you marked on the threshold layer and walla... You can throw the threshold layer out after that.

I have to confess, I don't have photoshop or any great editing program. What I have is called photostudio 2000. It was a program I got with a $20 digital camera a few years ago.

I just started playing with it and found something I liked. First I "painted" the background white, I turned the photo in to black and white and then I desaturated it. Then I played with the tone adjustment curve until I found something that resmbled the look I wanted.

I am quite sure it will be easier in photoshop.

Years ago, I put some darkroom paper for photo paints in my printer and ran some images through it like your's here. Then I attempted to paint them with a set of Marshall's Photo Oils. Didn't come out as I would have liked but it was different.

Your process is very well done,.
The first looks more like a real drawing, the second though clearly excellently done, does not look as much like someone drew it, though it certainly is excellent. It just looks more computer generated to me.
