I had an eye exam last week. Turns out I am blind as a bat and need to wear glasses all of the time. But guess what kind of lenses are in the suckers. NIKON!

They both have their winners, lenses so sharp you could shave a gnat, and both have less than perfect glass. Now if Carl rose from the grave to make some glass for you, that would be impressive. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

SuzyView Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 10, 2006 13:47 | #8 After years of 20-20 vision, I hit 40 and had to admit, I needed glasses. So, I've been wearing them for a few years and every year I get a pair of glasses. I have lots of them now and can't remember which is which, new or old, reading or long distance, so I got bifocals last year and trifocals this year. Talk about a problem! I can't walk around in my trifocals because the floor is so magnified, I get dizzy. Suzie - Still Speaking Canonese!

They take a bit of getting used to but sure beat not being able to see properly. I can't tolerate anything in my eyes so contacts are a non-starter. I think I'de kill myself if I had to deal with the responsibilities of contacts, and the fact some people have comfort problems with them. I am not really opposed to the idea of glasses. Would suit me anyway, I'm geeky enough to desserve a good pair. SuzyView Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 10, 2006 17:03 | #14 My best friend suggested Costco, then I read the most recent Consumer Reports article about buying glasses. I have spent more than $200 at a doctor's office for frames and glasses several times. Then deciding to have bifocals, which cost twice as much as regular glasses, the doctor's office quoted me $300 for the bifocals with a no-name frame. I quickly went to Costco for a quote and they were charging me 1/2 that. So, I tried it about 2 years ago. Now I won't do anything else. They are very fast, the staff is knowledgeable and the product is as good or better than at the doctor's office. Costco also has an insane return policy. Suzie - Still Speaking Canonese!

Yeah, as a store, I feel costco is actually pretty amazing. Their return policy is I think untouched by anyone in the retail industry, and their prices are rather decent (that's not say you won't find a product cheaper on the net, but for the price you pay and the return policy you get..) I don't know, you can buy just about everything there though, and even things like chairs they sell are pretty good for the $.
