I shot these photos this summer at Ocean Shores, Washington. I'm an extreme novice and my first Digital SLR is a Olympus E300. I've been lurking at this site for months and recently purchased a Canon XTI that will be delivered this coming Monday... I'm so excited I think it's giving me an ulcer, maybe 2. ;)

Funny thing about these shots they were obviously shot on a tripod but I was looking into about a 20+ MPH consistent head wind. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. I like them, but who knows what others will think, like I said... I'm no pro, not yet anyway. ;)

Feedback is welcome. :)

Nice first post, I like the shots. Try to suggest thing to improve these shots would be something in the foreground either in silhouette or fill flashed. Good start thanks for sharing.

I like the first one. I think less clouds would have made it more serene, but thats beyond control. Nice shot.

great shots, really like the first one, especially for it's clouds. Maybe crop the black out in the f/g and have the image starting just at the water?

Little side note, when I saw the title "Ocean shore's sunset" I got excited because I live right near an ocean shores and I thought there was someone on POTN in my area....but not quiet... :P anyway, great start!

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I'm by far my own worst enemy when it comes to sharing photos. I know that overall I liked how those photos came out but it's nice to know that they aren't completely junk and that people who love photography think they're ok too.

As time goes on and I get more time behind my camera (Especially after Monday when my XTI comes in) I look forward to learning as much I can and sucking the knowledge out of everyone on this forum.

:D

I actually like the minimalism of the 2nd one... overall, both are great shots.

I like them both and there isn't much I can say that someone else hasn't already said. Keep up the great work, and don't fret, we are all at some stage of learning here.....advanced or just beginner.

Oh ya.....welcome to the forum! :)

Thanks again for the comments.

2 days and counting until my XTI comes in, it's worse than waiting for Christmas. I also ordered 2 lenses; 28-135mm IS and the 70-200mm F4 L, I might be getting a bit ahead of myself but I figure I have to start somewhere and those lenses, from my research, are a great place to start.

:)

Very nice first effort....thanks for sharing...if I were to make any changes to either shot....it might be to move the framing of the sun just a bit to the right of center. Happy shooting...looking forward to more.
