Not really, I just assume such folks are accountants or similar 'bean counter' types and move on. I know they are needed in society, but sadly not often wanted ;) Clever dickery is usually the limit of their tickle-muscle reflex, but even that is a stretch ... as we saw

Well, I remember when we had to mediate(cate) when DavidEB turned overly pedantic with a spelling bee last year.....the sheer academic turpidity of that exchange still has me all scarred.

Yes, well that was a specific 'bee' incident that happened during a thread celebrating my Birthday if I remember correctly. The spellin' issue was not so important, more my perceived meany-ness of him moaning about spellin' on my birthday; but me and Davie are sweet. He's a good guy ;-)a

Anyway, English isn't my first language so any 'jolly jape' at my expense is a bit mean, but we are both real men eh Pete? We can take such Midges.

Hell yes, we speak Afrikaans (you) and Amish Deutsch (I) well enough and a few others to boot....who gives a hoot if we turn Anglois phonetically here and there....it is the vibrancy and colour of expression that usually leaves a major communication impact.
As far as DavidEB is concerned, he is one of our own, no doubt !

Hey PetKal, I finally got another chance at ducks today. Hope these offerings prove worthy of your august pleasure. the first one is stealth duck and the second is the conducktor. Do they satisfy my penance sufficiently?

That's a marked improvement, Fishy.:D I think you got the idea of shot dynamics, the "twist" as well as the compositional breadth. I like both shots.

Now there are only two more elements of unorthodox duckshootin that we need to cover:
*Increase proximity to your subject.
*Tight cropping.

Please try deploying these elements and keep us posted.
Till then, here are a few more examples.

First, tight head crops.

I never knew when I got into photography that I would spend so much time taking pictures of ducks. These are the only tight body crops I could find. I'm afraid I'll have to work on the tight head crops. Unorthodox indeed. Maybe I should try from ground level looking up into their beady eyes.:D

Nice bokeh and catchlight (photoshop ?)
However, the duck looks pale and emaciated.....probably the unhealthy living in your basement has done that. Please make him swim and dive in your bathtub as often as possible....that might shake him outta depression.

Those are are good, Fishy.....any further improvements will be in a degree of profficiency and application. However, you gotta watch the exposure of drake's head......it is often easier to do it right in the absence of direct sunlight.;)

Really fine colours and sufficient sharpness......many a duck shooter would be quite happy with that. However, if you wanna go a bit beyond, we gotta (1) improve proximity and (2) watch that head exposure, as discussed previously.;)
Here is a head example which I'd consider properly exposed.
