OK Jagkit, how do we know we got a sharp/detailed enough shot ? Well, we go a bit beyond a 100% crop. 200% is really good if we can make it.;)

what constitutes a duck, anyway?

My favorite duck is Peking Duck served up in Chinatown. I'll be sure to take a picture of the dead duck next time I'm there.

(2) Rigour mortis.

Hard to argue with that one, haha. I've found when going beyond 100% it is all about the detail in the pixels, and the amount of noise in existence.

OK, let us try to go to a 200% crop and see what happens.

It's hard to see because it's a sharp image, but you can definitley see some problems beginning, the pixels are being enlarged a little too much.

and the pixel peeping has begun... now gentlemen in all fairness when the heck are we going to actually use a 200% crop... I mean seriously?.. now I know that it's fun (by the way pixel peeping doesn't seem to have much to do with talent or skill but merely a way to puff up chests with how mighty your tools are)... and even at 200% a duck. is a duck is a duck... do a 200% crop on something interesting...

oh.. I can see your reflection in the eyes.. very cool. fantastic lens oohhhh sooo sharp.. and how can you possibly ever settle for less???????

When you get a shot of that lovely lady you have a crush on and want to examine her closer? :).
